Having Facebook likes or followers can be a very valuable marketing tool, here how to show content to only your followers.

Having Facebook likes or followers can be a very valuable marketing tool, since new updates on your Facebook page, will also be displayed on your followers Facebook walls.

One way of getting more Facebook followers is to only display attractive content on your Facebook page to people that likes your page. We will show you how to implement a simple piece of FBML that can hide specific content from non-followers.

If you have some valuable content that your Facebook users are very interested in, creating a special page with this content that followers or Facebook connections can see, can be a very effective way of boosting your Facebook followers.

This trick is typically used by many marketing companies. In the Pepsi example below, you can only see the newest Pepsi videos and content on Facebook if you click the like button.

Creating a Facebook page like the Pepsi example is pretty straightforward.

FBML has a tag called: <fb:visible-to-connection> this tag simply only displays the content within the
<fb:visible-to-connection> </fb:visible-to-connection>tags to Facebook users that has clicked on the Like button on your Facebook page.

To include this functionality to your Facebook page, you need a FBML enabled tab on your Facebook page.

In the FBML tab, you paste the following code:

<

fb:fbml

version

=

"1.1"

>

<

fb:visible-to-connection

><

h1

>Hi there, fan!</

h1

>

Welcome to our custom page just for you!

<

fb:else

><

h1

>Hi there potential friend!</

h1

>

This page has exclusive secret content that can only be seen by people who likes us on Facebook!<

br

/><

br

/>

<

b

>Click the "Like" button on top of this page to see the hidden content</

b

>

</

fb:else

>

</

fb:visible-to-connection

>

</

fb:fbml

>

This code simply shows the secret content within the tag to users who likes your Facebook page, and displays the teaser content within the tags to users who hasn’t yet clicked on “Like”.

Please notice that when you’re applying this code to your own Facebook account you need to be logged out, or be logged in with another account than the admin account for your page!. If you access this page with the admin account, both the content for connections and non connections will be displayed.

As illustrated in the Pepsi example using a appealing graphics might increase number of users who clicks on the “Like” button.

You should definitely experiment with different types of teaser content to see what converts best for your page.

The HTML anchor tag doesn't always work in Internet Explorer (IE) when it's working fine with Firefox.

The HTML anchor tag doesn’t always work in Internet Explorer (IE) when it’s working fine with Firefox. Check the HTML code to see if the anchor tag has any content.

For example, you may be experiencing problems in IE if your anchor tag is written like of these two ways:

OR

The quick fix is to simple add some like a space to the anchor tag and it will work:

I am a big fan of Wordpress and often get asked how to display a page that looks like its still within the Wordpress frame work, but really isn't. Here's how.

If your like me, I like to customize, customize and customize tools to fit my needs. This enables me to provide the optimal user experience. I am a big fan of WordPress and often get asked how to display a page that looks like its still within the WordPress frame work, but really isn’t.

You need to call the wp-load.php file contained within the root folder of your WordPress installation. Once you have done this, is just a matter of adding the remaining page elements you want to display. Here is the code -

<?php
require( ‘../my_wordpress_install_root/wp-load.php’ );
get_header();
?>
Put your content here!

<?php get_footer(); ?>

Depending on where the data is needed, it could be, that the absolute path of WordPress is needed. Hopefully this helps!

This how-to describes an easy way to add domainkeys and SPF (Sender Policy Framework) records on CPanel Servers.

This how-to describes an easy way to add domainkeys and SPF (Sender Policy Framework) records on CPanel Servers. Whenever you create a domain on CPanel server using WHM, it wont add domainkeys and SPF records for particular domains. To add domainkeys and SPF records please use following steps.

We consider here we have a domain carefreetrip.com with cpanel username cftrip

Please note on CPanel servers most of the work is done using cpanel username which then reflect setting on particular domains. If you have several domains / sub domains under one username, it will add domainkeys and SPF records for all domains / subdomains.

Execute the following command on your CPanel server using root.

1 DomainKeys

1.1 Add DomainKeys for single user

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/domain_keys_installer cftrip

where cftrip is a username

1.2 Add DomainKeys for all CPanel users.

If you wish to add DomainKeys for all Cpanel users on your server, execute following command.

ls /var/cpanel/users | while read a; do
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/domain_keys_installer $a
done

2 SPF (Sender Policy Framework)

2.1 Add SPF for single account.

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/spf_installer cftrip

2.2 Add SPF for all Cpanel accounts.

If you want to add SPF records for all cpanel accounts exist on your server then use the following command.

ls /var/cpanel/users | while read a; do
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/spf_installer $a
done

3 Enable DomainKeys and SPF for every new CPanel account.

If you want to add DomainKeys and SPF for every new account created on Cpanel, then do the following.

vi /scripts/postwwwacct

postwwwacct is a file which execute after wwwacct (used to create account), paste following lines in the file

#!/usr/bin/perl

my %OPTS = @ARGV;
$ENV{USER} = “$OPTS{‘user’}”;
system q(/usr/local/cpanel/bin/domain_keys_installer $USER);
system q(/usr/local/cpanel/bin/spf_installer $USER);

Create a custom RSS feed for Wordpress by creating a page template, a little code, and your existing page structure.

Recently I was on one of our websites, carefreelasvegas.com, and had a need to develop a custom RSS feed within WordPress. I didn’t want to go through the hassle of developing the feed via PHP and then have to work around the permalinks and website structure. So I developed simple method of producing a custom RSS feeding using a page template.

Here is what I did -

First, you need to create a new page template for your WordPress blog. Open up your favorite PHP editor and copy and paste the following code into your new page:

<?php
/*
Template Name: Custom Feed
*/

$numposts = 100;
$excerpt_length = 360;

function yoast_rss_date( $timestamp = null ) {
$timestamp = ($timestamp==null) ? time() : $timestamp;
echo date(DATE_RSS, $timestamp);
}

function yoast_rss_text_limit($string, $length, $replacer = ‘ [...]‘) {
$string = strip_tags($string);
if(strlen($string) > $length) {
$pos = strpos($string, ‘ ‘, $length);
return (preg_match(‘/^(.*)\W.*$/’, substr($string, 0, $pos+1), $matches) ? $matches[1] : substr($string, 0, $pos)) . $replacer;
} else {
return $string;
}
}

$posts = query_posts(‘showposts=’.$numposts);

$lastpost = $numposts – 1;

header(“Content-Type: application/rss+xml; charset=UTF-8″);
echo ‘’;
?>

Upcoming Special Events

Upcoming special events

<?php yoast_rss_date( strtotime($ps[$lastpost]->post_date_gmt) ); ?>

<?php yoast_rss_date( strtotime($ps[$lastpost]->post_date_gmt) ); ?>

<?php foreach ($posts as $post) { ?>

<?php echo get_the_title($post->ID); ?>

<?php echo get_permalink($post->ID); ?>

<?php echo ‘'.yoast_rss_text_limit($post->post_content, $excerpt_length).'’; ?>

<?php yoast_rss_date( strtotime($post->post_date_gmt) ); ?>

<?php echo get_permalink($post->ID); ?>

<?php } ?>

Second, make changes to the code to fit your website. For example, re-title the feed from “Upcoming Special Events” to whatever you want. If you have any WordPress and PHP knowledge, you can make other modifications as needed.

Third, this code has two variables that you need to set. 1) $numposts tells this file how many entries you want to include in your RSS feed and 2) $excerpt_length tells how many characters to look for the next word break when displaying the description of each entry.

Now you just need to upload this file to your themes default folder.

Once you have the file uploaded, you need to go into the WordPress administration area and create a new page. Call it whatever you would like the RSS feed to be called as well as create the permalink you would like to use, if using permalinks, for the feed.

The last step is to find the Page Attributes on the right side of the page. In this section you will find a Templates drop-down menu. Simply select the template title you create and hit Publish.

Just like that you have your own customizable RSS feed in WordPress.

Marketing is based on thinking about your business in terms of customer needs and their satisfaction.

Several years ago I was asked by one of my friends to help develop a website and marketing plan for his new business. With limited capital and small staff, just him and his wife, he asked several companies for bids on what it would take to get him online and begin to build traffic. After about a week he started to get bids back – $7,500, $10,000 even $25,000. I just about died when he told me that. I told him I could do it all for less – much less.

After getting his website up and running, with a few customers starting to trickle in from our marketing plan, I received a call that went something like this, “Hello, you don’t know me but my name is Dave and I am a friend of Bret, who you just built a website for. I was wondering if you could help me out with my website and marketing plan.” From this phone call, Henrie Media Inc. was founded.

I wasn’t looking to start a business, let alone fund a business, but I saw a need and began to fill it. I approached several small businesses in the area with about a 80 percent success rate. The biggest complaint I heard from the small businesses I contacted was that they were getting lost in the implementation of their marketing plan. Most of these companies were providing a valuable product, or website, but all of them failed in one area – marketing or was it customer service?

I started thinking more about this discovery and began to look at exactly what businesses and consumers are looking for when it comes to marketing. BusinessDictionary.com defines marketing as the “management process through which goods and services move from concept to the customer.” The real power in their definition comes in the next sentence, which reads “it is based on thinking about the business in terms of customer needs and their satisfaction.”

Simply put – marketing is customer service. It continues to surprise me that companies have an excellent product or service but kill their business due to poor customer service. Henrie Media Inc. was founded as a marketing company with our cornerstone being customer service. As a company with a marketing foundation, it is the responsibility of our team to ensure all of the products and services we deliver all focus on customer satisfaction.

Our mission statement shows this commitment, it states “Henrie Media Inc. specializes in providing innovative marketing solutions and services to our customers. We develop and establish a strong working partnership with our customers. With this foundation, we are able to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions that often exceed our customers’ expectations.”

So not matter what type of marketing your engage in (PPC, SEO, SEM, Social Media, etc.), the key is to stay focused on the customer. What type of experience is the customer having with your product or service? Is this the experience you want? What are you doing about it? Does it fill their need? Are you focused on their need or your need?

Revenue follows customer satisfaction. Marketing is customer service. Marketing drives revenue.
